1. Start by opening up a new file in your preferred image editor (we’re using Photoshop for this tutorial). The dimensions of your file don’t matter too much, since we’ll be exporting it as a PNG later on. Just make sure the width and height are large enough that you can see what you’re doing!

2. Next, create a new layer in your document. You can do this by clicking the “Create a New Layer” button at the bottom of the Layers panel.

3. Once you have a new layer, use the Rectangle Tool (U) to draw a rectangle over top of your GM logo. It doesn’t have to be perfect, since we’ll be erasing part of it later on.

4. With your rectangle still selected, go to Edit > Define Pattern. This will save your rectangular selection as a pattern that we can use later on.

5. Now that we have our pattern defined, let’s go ahead and delete our rectangle shape layer since we won’t need it anymore. We can do this by selecting the layer in the Layers panel and pressing the Delete key on our keyboard.

6. With our GM logo layer still active, go to Edit > Fill and choose “Pattern” from the drop-down menu near the bottom of the window that pops up. Then select our newly created pattern from the next drop-down menu and click OK to apply it!

7. All that’s left to do now is export our image as a transparent PNG so that only the GM logo is visible against any background color or image we might place it overtop of later on! To do this, go to File > Export > Export As… and choose PNG from the list of file formats near the bottom of the window that appears next
